Let us introduce Riina Liukkonen and Teemu Mustonen, founders of NYAS. Together they have a combined experience of 40+ years in the entertainment industry across the world. This is the story of how they met and have come to meet each other again and again over the years up to founding NYAS together.

 

They both started as dancers at a very early age and performing came naturally to both. Their paths crossed at the beginning of 2000 when they worked in the same company and became friends very quickly. After working together for a while, Teemu started his career as an actor in Helsinki City Theater where he resided for 8 years. He also got to play many lead roles and perform in various stages around the world as an actor and singer. He also produced a play in Kuopio in the middle of the woods so you can not say he’s not resourceful.

In the late 2000’s Riina was hired as a choreographer in Dubai and the planned 6 month contract turned into a decade in the middle-east. Riina worked as a dancer, choreographer and producer in the region and  gained clients and peers respect with her professional attitude and highly trained skills. She worked as an Artistic Director for Alchemy Project which brought to Dubai world A-list artists such as Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Chris Brown and world known entertainment concepts like Cirque Du Soleil and The Illusionists. She also built her own client base for whom she produced entertainment concepts and resident shows. Also Riina has choreographed F1 opening ceremonies in Yas Marina and Riyad Season opening shows in Saudi Arabia.

Teemu moved to Berlin 2012 following his heart. He still worked as a singer and actor and even went to perform in Dubai for shows that were produced by Riina. Being abroad he had the opportunity to work for Madonna’s fitness chain as a trainer and even met the Queen herself.

​

Their similar attitude towards entertainment and events, their attention to detail and drive to make everything a little bit better, pushed them to start a company together. They felt there was a need, a gap in the Finnish events and entertainment market for their expertise and so - Not Your Average Swan was born. The little hatchling took flight instantaneously. Peeking interest towards a company that does everything a little bit different and a little better was noticeable. After that, interest turned into happy clients and NYAS has been soaring ever since.
